The government doesn’t create prosperity and jobs, the private sector does. The key to unleashing economic prosperity in America is untangling the private sector from the web of unnecessary government involvement. The failed, so-called “stimulus package”, which was supported by my opponent, Jared Polis, is a case study of what happens when politicians try and make decisions about our economy...
I oppose the Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im), backed by some members of Congress, including my opponent Representative Jared Polis. Ex-Im is up for renewal by September 30, 2014. Fiscal conservatives and free-market advocates such as myself consider the bank a wellspring of crony capitalism, favoring companies that are well connected in Washington, and hindering the flow of capital in the free-market.
In a recent Denver Post Opinion Piece, Jared Polis attempts to rewrite the history of his oil and gas propositions, their withdrawal and the proposed blue ribbon panel. Polis claimed that his goal was to "solve the (fracking) problem" and that his actions have brought every group to the discussion table. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Today, Representative Polis announced that he has chosen not to attend the Club 20 debate, which represents three counties in our district, on September 6th, 2014. We are disappointed for the people of the district. I will continue to challenge Representative Polis to debates - the mountain counties, and all people of Colorado's Second Congressional District, deserve a robust debate over the important issues facing our country.
Larimer County State Senator Kevin Lundberg and Boulder businessman Eric Weissmann have jointly endorsed me for Congress. Two years ago, they engaged in a spirited race for the Republican nomination for the U.S. House of Representatives seat representing the Second Congressional District. I am honored, and humbled to have received their endorsements.
The National Republican Congressional Committee has just announced that George Leing has been elevated to "On the Radar" status in the the NRCC Young Guns program.
On Friday, I received 74% of the assembly vote and with no candidates filing petitions, I am the presumptive Republican Nominee. A huge thanks to our many volunteers and supporters whose hard work made this possible. Thank you also to Bob Comer and Larry Sarner for running determined campaigns focused on the issues. Now, we begin again, with an eye towards building a better future for our children and our nation. We will restore America's promise.
I am humbled at the prospect of representing the people of Colorado's Second Congressional District. I will work every day to ensure your voice is heard in Congress on the issues that matter most to you.
